Dilip Shanghvi tops global rich list of drug makers

Dilip Shanghvi is the founder MD of Sun Pharmaceuticals.Dilip Shanghvi is India's third richest billionaire in may his gross was of $16.4 billion.About his education ,He is alumni of University of Culcutta and f J. J. Ajmera High School and Bhawanipur Education Society College. Now in august his net worth is of $17.2 billion.He is on consistent rise. He started Sun Pharmaceuticals in 1983. Initially his company started with Psychiatry products followed by Cardiology and gastroenterology segments.
But the phenomenal rise in his wealth is shocking for everyone.His wealth grew at rate of 37.1% or $4.7 billion and its $17.2 billion now. He is a multi venture person. But all these ventures are in the field of Health science and pharmaceutical research. He holds 64% shares in SunPharma , 67% holding in SunPharma advanced research, 4% in NATCO pharma and 18% in Bio Light Israeli life sciences.
In India SunPharma is the largest Chronic Prescription company in India.
In 2014 Sun Pharma acquired Ranbaxy. Ranbaxy was an Indian company which was acquired by an Japanese Pharmaceutical gaint named Daiichi Sankyo. But now Ranbaxy is acquired by Dilip Shanghvi's SunPharma. After this acquisition SunPharma is largest pharmaceutical company in India. Also SunPharma is largest Indian Pharmaceutical company in USA. Sunpharma is fifth largest specialty generic company globally now.
72% of Sunpharma sales are from outside markets.Out of this global turnover 54% comes from USA. SunPharma is also having a huge balance sheet tuning up to INR 10,000 Crores.Capture

SunPharma is doing excellent in stock market too.Sunpharma shares on an average trade at INR 767.Also SunPharma has submitted an update dated july 16 2014 stating that Sunpharma has acquired Pharmalucence.Pharmalucence is a USA based company and is leading in the feild of Radiopharmaceuticals and sterile injectables.Pharmalucence is a FDA approved for its two new indications reportedly some Sulfur Colloid product.This indication has use in locating the lymph nodes in Breast cancer and malignant melanoma patients.

PharmD in India was started in India in the year 2008. PharmD expanded form is Doctor of Pharmacy. Its a Postgraduate and Postdoctoral program in India. The PharmD PG's can add Dr. before there name.

PHARMD IS DIFFERENT FROM BPHARM

 PharmD is mostly clinical in setup. Its different from traditional Bpharm in India . The syllabus is different too.
Many papers are entirely different and in India PharmD is mostly having an annual plan unlike Bpharm.
Job aspects are also different . PharmD is more towards Clinical and Hospital  work.
5 YEAR STUDY AND ONE YEAR INTERNSHIP

In PharmD the course period of study in 5 years and there is one year internship.
The internship is supposed to be in a big hospital with all facilities.
hospital ward rounds for students are scheduled from 2nd year.
from 4th years they start working in hospital Pharmacy department and Department of Pharmacy Practice.
the internship is divided in two phases
in 1st phase they are supposed to have rotatory posting in super specialty departments
in the 2nd Phase they are supposed to do more of management and clerkship job.Its a Pre-PhD course in India

There is no need to do Mpharm after this PhamD program.
Students can directly go for PhD after this program.
The Pharm.D program is a pre-PhD, post-graduate professional doctoral program. It was introduced to improve clinical pharmacy services in India and it is the only pharmacy service which is in direct contact with patient health care system. The first batch of Pharm.D post baccalaureate students graduated in August 2011. The Pharm.D degree requires five years of classroom and hospital based didactic study (two years didactic), followed by one year of internship training in addition to ongoing practicals and research project.The entry requirements for this 6 year pharmD program is after 12 years of school education with maths & science sub: or diploma in pharmacy and for post baccalaureate entry is after 4 year B.Pharm undergraduate qualification[citation needed]. In India pharm D students and graduates are actively participating in direct patient care in hospitals[citation needed]. Pharm D graduation is a post graduate professional doctoral degree in India[citation needed]. With reference to Clarification on Pharm.D qualification, it is clarified to all universities that Pharm.D is a post graduate degree and passed out students can directly register for Ph.D From 2012
